In many post-Soviet countries, 8 March has become a kind of “women’s day”, with men paying special attention to the women in their lives, giving them presents or performing some household duties, which, under the influence of gender stereotypes, are considered “female”. The essence of the date is often lost behind all this, while in reality it is a day of solidarity in the struggle of women for equal rights and emancipation.
